View DetailsHow to Install the Smart Controller Unit
- Disconnect all power (battery and AC adapter) before touching any wires.
- Unplug the old panel from the harness and remove it from the mount.
- Plug in the new smart Controller Unit using the existing connector. Use an adapter if the plug differs.
- Mount the new panel securely in the same location.
- Restore power and turn on the heater.
- For WiFi: Long press the ">" key for ~7 seconds until entering WiFi network mode.
- Open the App on your phone (Sunster/compatible control app).
- Scroll down to find and tap "Add Device".
- Choose to use 2.4g band WiFi (ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz router).
- Click "Next" and then turn off mobile data first.
- Connect WiFi with the same name as displayed on the control panel.
- If a pop-up window appears for WiFi connection, please select "Keep Connected".
- Click Next and wait for data transmission.
- Click on Bind to complete the pairing process.
- For LTE-4G: Insert a nano-SIM card (data plan active), power on, and scan the QR code on the Controller Unit with the Sunster app to bind.

Smart control (WiFi or LTE-4G) works by connecting your heater to a network. Pick the scenario that matches your setup:
Scenario 1: You Always Park Near WiFi (Campgrounds, Home, Shop)
Choose: WiFi model. Connect the heater to your 2.4GHz router once, and you can control it from anywhere in the world — the office, a trailhead, or back home. Walk into a warm van, garage, or cabin no matter where you are. WiFi models also include Bluetooth fallback for local control when the router drops.
Scenario 2: You Park Off-Grid (Remote Campsites, Truck Stops, No Router)
Choose: LTE-4G model. No router? No problem. Insert a nano-SIM card with a data plan, and you get the same remote control via cellular signal. Perfect for overlanders, long-haul truckers, and anyone heating a remote outbuilding. Unlimited range wherever there's cellular coverage.
Scenario 3: You Want Maximum Flexibility (Hybrid Setup)
Choose: Both — WiFi at home, LTE-4G on the road. If you use the heater in multiple locations — a home garage with WiFi and a van that travels to off-grid spots — consider having both. CO and installation safety: Diesel heaters burn fuel and exhaust must run outside the living space. Route exhaust away from intakes, windows and sleeping positions.
